GENERAL NOTES

Prospective purchasers are respectfully advised to read the Terms and Conditions of Sale carefully before bidding on any lot, as they form the terms of your contract with us, whether or not you are a successful bidder.

Admission

H&H Classics Limited has the right at its sole discretion, without assigning any reason whatsoever, to refuse admission to any of its sales or indeed its premises by any person. The purchase of a catalogue does not constitute an entry ticket or guarantee entry.

Catalogues can be bought online here

Bidder Registration

To enable the Auctioneer to recognise bidders during the sale all intending buyers are required to complete a Bidder's Registration Form. This will enable you to bid at the sale by means of a number allocated to you. All prospective bidders must complete the form and produce photographic identification which will take the form of a current driving licence or passport; appropriate references may also be requested. All Lots sold will be invoiced to the registered bidder. If you lose your catalogue or bidder's number please notify reception immediately.

Click here to download the bidders registration form - please remember to give this to us at the bidders registration desk.

References

Prospective Purchasers are asked to supply banker's references if they intend to bid on a lot (or lots) estimated at £50,000 or more and these should be sent in time to allow them to be taken up prior to the sale. Failure to comply with this could result in a facility to bid being withdrawn. Please contact head office for further clarification on this matter.

Currency Converter / - i-bidder display screen

Solely for the convenience of bidders, a currency converter is provided at H&H Classics Limited. The rates quoted for conversion of other currencies to pounds sterling are indicative only and we will not be responsible for any errors, inaccuracies or omissions relating to amounts or lot images shown by the currency converter. Prospective purchasers must rely on the auctioneer for guidance as to the current lot and bid price etc. The auctioneer’s word takes precedence over the currency converter’s display in all instances.

At auctions where there is the facility to bid live online via the i-bidder platform prospective purchasers must rely on the auctioneer for guidance as to the current lot and bid price etc and not on the i-bidder screen display. The auctioneer's word takes precedence over the i-bidder screen display in all instances.

Insurance

A representative of Footman James Insurance Services should be in attendance and will be pleased to advise buyers in this area. Please be reminded that the insurance is the buyer's responsibility from the fall of the hammer.

Export License / Dates

Export licences may be required for any lot manufactured or produced 50 years or more prior to the date of export from the U.K. It is the responsibility of the buyer to obtain the licence and correct documentation prior to the exportation of the lot.

Dating Plates, Dating Certificates and Historic Identity Forms

When mention is made of the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain Dating Plates and Certificates in this catalogue, it should be borne in mind that the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain does, from time to time, review cars already dated and, in some instances, where fresh evidence becomes available, alter the date. Whilst the Club makes every effort to ensure accuracy, the date shown on the Dating Plate or Dating Certificate cannot be guaranteed as correct and intending purchasers should therefore make their own enquiries as to the date of the car.

Competition History & Vehicle Identity

H&H Classics Limited cannot check or verify the authenticity of the chassis or VIN number under which a vehicle is offered, but relies on the Seller's description. Buyers should take particular care to verify in advance the authenticity of a vehicle that is claimed to have important racing, rallying or 'ex-works' history as it was common in period for a competition car of a single identity to have more than one chassis, body or other mechanical components. This may have happened several times, both in a car's 'works' career and thereafter in private owner hands. Sometimes 'works' cars were fitted with different registration plates, so that a car could meet a particular event's start date deadline. These historical factors may lead to there being in existence multiple and competing claimants to the same vehicle identity.

Warranty

H&H Classics Limited is acting as the agent of the Seller in offering his / her lot for sale by auction. We cannot and do not inspect each lot in detail to verify the Seller's description – often we only see it shortly before the Sale. Therefore we cannot and do not take responsibility for the condition of the lot or the accuracy of its description. This is the reason for our very specific terms with regard to (a) any motor vehicle being sold as a collector’s item and not as a means of transport, Condition 12.1 and (b) all lots being offered as seen with all faults and defects and without any guarantee or warranty, Condition 19.1, which intending purchasers should read carefully.

Damage

Any visitor to our premises or auction venue will be held liable for all damage caused, however so effected, and shall reimburse H&H Classics Limited or its agents for all costs and expenses relating to the rectification of such damage.

Injury

H&H Classics Limited shall be under no liability for any injury, damage or loss sustained by any person while on the Auctioneers premises (including any premises where a sale may be conducted or where a Lot, or a part of a Lot, may be on view from time to time) except for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Auctioneers or its employees and agents in the course of their duties to the Auctioneers.
