BSA introduced their new lightweight two stroke to the world at the end of 1947 initially as an engine unit, although this was quickly followed by the announcement that a complete machine would be introduced for the1948 season, named the Bantam. The new machine was powered by a two stroke single cylinder engine built in unit with a three speed gearbox, the design for which had been acquired from the German DKW concern as part of the reparations made by Germany following the Second World War. The cycle parts consisted of a rigid frame, although a plunger option would quickly follow, equipped with simple telescopic forks and a sprung saddle. Full unsprung mudguards were employed and lighting was provided by either a direct system with a dry cell battery powering the parking lights or a conventional system.

The example offered dates from 1955 and features the frame equipped with plunger rear suspension. It has been restored to a good standard throughout and, according to the vendor, runs nicely. A Swansea V5C, old mot certificate and green log book together with a number plate authorisation for the current registration number accompany the motorcycle.
