The famous French marque was one of Europe's Pioneer motorcycle manufacturers entering the market in 1899. They quickly established themselves as one of the premier engine suppliers, with their power units being used by company's such as Norton and DOT as well as powering their own products. They were at the forefront of motorcycle development in the years leading up to the First World War, achieving numerous competition successes with their innovative designs, most notable of which was a double overhead cam parallel twin cylinder engine of 499cc. In the years following the end of the First World War production concentrated production on a series of vee twins ranging in capacity from 295cc to 746cc. These were joined at the start of the twenties by a lightweight two stroke single followed in 1926 by a new 346cc over head valve single. The new over head valve single featured a three speed gearbox built in unit with engine housed in a rigid frame notable for a lengthy chin run to the rear wheel. Marketed a sporting model, it was later joined by a series of side valve singles employing a similar bottom end.

This example was purchased by the vendor in France approximately seventeen years ago and subsequently imported into the United Kingdom. It is described as being mechanically good with the condition of the paintwork and brightwork being fair. A Swansea V5 and copies of the French registration documents accompany the motorcycle which will provide the purchaser with an interesting mount for next year's vintage runs.
